Food Lover’s Paradise

There is something precious for food lovers in Kerala. It is not a wonder to say that Kerala has been a melting pot of various cultures and food styles. All the time in history some new people arrived to Kerala and the state warmly welcomed all the diversities. It is no surprise that Kerala was one of the first locations in India where foreign explorers also landed in the past years. Its geographical location indeed made it a gateway to India.

Certainly the cuisine of Kerala has been largely benefited by the influence of all these varied cultures. The result is that currently there is a yummy mix of cuisine, mainly under three styles – Traditional, Arabic and European. Kerala’s traditional food, in fact, looks to be impacted by the Tamil culture. Its customary dishes include ethnic items like Puttu and Kadala (see the picture above), Sadya (meal), Sambar (special curry with vegetables) and etc…

Later, Arabic and European food styles were also embraced by the people in Kerala with the presence of Muslims and British. Plus, Kerala is rich with several natural food items like jackfruit, mango, coconut and banana. They are quite healthy, especially because they are mostly cultivated in organic style, with no pesticides and pollutants.
